A good idea becomes a great idea when you let it out
Ideas can come to us at any time and for me, it's always at the most inconvenient times when I'm away from my computer or don't have access to pen and paper - usually when I'm in the shower or out for a walk!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve spoken to many coaches lately who say they have so many business ideas swirling around in their brain but often have trouble getting them out of their head and onto paper. For creative business owners, generating ideas is generally the easy part, but it's so important to have a system or process of recording them to ensure they see the light of day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having your ideas recorded in a notebook or a suitable digital format provides you with a bank of content that you can refer to, act upon and implement in the future. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m a big fan of writing everything down as a starting point for making plans and goals. Mostly because I’ll probably forget if I don’t, but also because I know my ideas are useless while they remain in my head - action is needed to bring them to life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I always have a notebook handy on my desk for jotting down notes and I keep them all for future reference and transfer any key notes into a digital format, usually Evernote or a Google doc. When I’m out and about I use the notes on my phone or the Evernote app to record any lightbulb moments.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Although I love being my own boss, I definitely miss having colleagues to brainstorm with and bounce ideas off of. This can be especially helpful when sorting through ideas and deciding which ones to move forward with. As 2020 is fast coming to an end and we’re starting to plan our goals for 2021, a 60-minute brainstorming session with yourself (or a trusted colleague or VA) could be a great task to add to the to do list!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
